Texas Projects
Liberty Power has had a presence in Texas for more than 7 years as the owner and operator of the Senate Wind Farm. That project includes 75 Gamesa G9X-2.0 MW wind generating turbines to the west of the City of Jacksboro between U.S. Highway (US) 380 and State Highway (SH) 114 in Jack and Young counties, Texas, near the town of Bryson. The 150-megawatt wind farm achieved commercial operation in 2012 and produces enough clean electricity to power about 45,000 homes a year.
LIBERTY POWER
Liberty Power, a subsidiary of Algonquin Power & Utilities Corp. (“APUC”), is a non-regulated independent power producer that owns or has interest in a portfolio of North American contracted wind, solar, hydroelectric, and natural gas powered generating facilities representing more than 1.5 GW of installed capacity. Algonquin has more than 35 contracted renewable and clean energy facilities with over 1.5 GW of gross installed capacities. APUC currently owns more than $10 billion of assets with a portfolio of development projects that will add roughly 486 MW of generating capacity from wind and solar powered generating stations through 2016. Such growth requires strong collaboration with the communities that host Algonquin’s projects thus, Algonquin’s focus on community engagement is a corporate best practice in the planning and development of the company’s projects.
